Division of the Courts

The District Court Vavniya administers civil adjudication through the District Court and criminal proceedings through two dedicated Magisterial chambers, operating under the established legal framework of Sri Lanka.

District Court

Holds original civil jurisdiction over property disputes, commercial recoveries, contract liabilities, appeals, testamentary actions, and family cases.

Magistrate's Court 01

Manages police criminal filings, motor traffic offenses, drug-related matters, bail hearings, inquests, debt recoveries, and money laundering investigations.

Magistrate's Court 02

Presides over criminal investigations, traffic violations, departmental prosecutions, maintenance claims, labor enforcement, and statutory offenses.
